Delhi government has taken a big decision in favor of slum dwellers. Now the slum dwellers will get new houses till January 1, 2025.
New Delhi: There is a good news for the people living in slums of Delhi. The Chief Minister’s Office said on Tuesday that now the residents of any slum built till January 1, 2025 will be given the benefit of rehabilitation. This important decision was taken in the 36th board meeting of Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

- Earlier on June 16, Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah had also held a review meeting regarding the rehabilitation of slums in New Delhi. The meeting was attended by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi Urban Development Minister, Union Home Secretary, Delhi Chief Secretary and many senior officials of the Central and Delhi governments.
- In that meeting, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said that ‘Delhi Slum and JJ Cluster Rehabilitation and Relocation Policy, 2026’ has been finalized and the Delhi government should notify it as soon as possible. He directed that Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and DUSIB should issue tender for five clusters within 45 days. Apart from this, he also directed to prepare project documents and tender forms for 50 more JJ clusters.
5 PPP tenders will be issued every month
Amit Shah also said that the Delhi government should float tenders for at least five PPP (Public-Private Partnership) based rehabilitation projects every month. The Home Minister stressed that community facilities should be taken full care of in the construction of rehabilitation colonies. These should have facilities like Anganwadi centres, schools, health centers and playgrounds. He said that these decisions will benefit about four lakh families living in JJ clusters of Delhi. He also clarified that the cut-off date of eligibility for JJ clusters should be fixed as 01.01.2025. (ANI)
