On International Yoga Day, Minister Lakshmi Rajwade did group yoga practice in Balrampur, planted saplings and gave the message of yoga, health and drug-free life.
Raipur. On the occasion of International Yoga Day, various programs were organized in Balrampur district under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Age”. Minister in-charge of the district and Minister of Women and Child Development, Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade participated in the district level program organized at the high school grounds of Swami Atmanand Hindi Medium School located at the district headquarters. He gave the message to the citizens to adopt yoga regularly by practicing various yogasanas and pranayama.

Addressing the program, Minister Smt. Lakshmi Rajwade said that due to the efforts of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India’s ancient yoga tradition has got global recognition. Today, yoga is being adopted in many countries of the world as an effective medium for health, mental balance and human welfare. He said that yoga is not just a physical activity but a science of coordination of body, mind and soul. Yoga and spirituality complement each other and provide direction to a person to lead a disciplined, positive and healthy life.
Increasing need of yoga in modern lifestyle
The Minister said that in today’s busy and stressful lifestyle, maintaining physical and mental health has become a big challenge. Yoga is an ancient Indian practice, which paves the way for a healthy and disease-free life by balancing body, mind and soul.
He said that regular yoga practice increases self-confidence, develops positive thinking and infuses new energy. He appealed to all the citizens to make yoga a part of their daily routine and pledged to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Red Cross Society President Mr. Omprakash Jaiswal, District Panchayat President Mrs. Sumitra Cherwa, Municipality President Mr. Lodhiram Ekka, Collector Mrs. Chandan Sanjay Tripathi, Superintendent of Police Mr. Vaibhav Banker, District Panchayat CEO Mrs. Nayantara Singh Tomar and many public representatives, officers-employees and a large number of citizens were present in the program.
People participated enthusiastically in group yoga practice
On this occasion, various yoga asanas including Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Padahastasana, Ardhachakrasana, Bhadrasana, Vajrasana and Makarasana were practiced by the trainers. Along with this, the process of Bhramari Pranayam and meditation was also done. A large number of people took part in the group yoga exercise and resolved to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Scout-guide interacted with students
During the program, Minister Mrs. Rajwade interacted with the Scout-Guide, Rover and Ranger students and learned about their experiences. He also discussed the role of discipline, service spirit among the youth and their role in nation building.
Saplings planted under ‘One tree in mother’s name’ campaign
After the yoga program, Minister Smt. Rajwade planted a sapling of Maulshree in the high school grounds under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. Giving the message of environmental protection, he called for planting more and more trees. During this time, other public representatives and officials also strengthened the resolve of Green Balrampur by planting saplings.
Resolved to build a drug-free India
In the district level program, Collector Mrs. Chandan Sanjay Tripathi made the people present pledge to build a drug-free India. He said that yoga and drug-free lifestyle have an important role in building a healthy and strong society. He appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs, make yoga a part of life and become agents of positive change in the society.
Yoga programs were also held in development blocks, panchayats and historical places.
On the occasion of International Yoga Day, mass yoga programs were organized in all the development blocks, urban bodies, gram panchayats, Anganwadi centres, old age homes and various historical places of the district. A large number of people enthusiastically participated in these programs and expressed their commitment towards Yoga.
