This accident happened when the North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) bus was going from Siliguri to Cooch Behar. The bus collided with a trailer parked on the roadside from behind. The collision was so severe that the rear part of the trailer entered the bus, trapping many passengers inside. Further information about the case is awaited.

BJP MP Roy told the details

BJP MP Jayant Kumar Roy told ANI that 32 people were brought to a nearby hospital after the accident, of which four died during treatment. He said, “Today an accident took place in Jalpaiguri. 32 people related to the accident were brought to this hospital, out of which 4 people have died. According to Roy, 17 women and 15 men were admitted to the hospital. Some of the injured are being shifted to other hospitals for better treatment. The police has started investigating the matter. Many senior officials including the DIG are also arriving to inspect the spot.

CM Suvendu is also sad to hear the news of the accident

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari also expressed grief over this accident on NH-27 in Mainaguri. The official said, “Deeply saddened by the tragic road accident at Ulladabari Jorabadh on NH-27 in Mainaguri, my heart goes out to the families who have lost their loved ones in this horrific incident. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of all the injured passengers.

Bengal government will give Rs 5 lakh cash to the deceased

To help the affected families, the official announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the next of kin of those killed in the accident, Rs 1 lakh for those seriously injured and Rs 50,000 for those with minor injuries.
