On this, Italy’s PM Meloni gave a sharp reaction and said, “Trump’s claim is completely fabricated. I and my country Italy never beg before anyone.”
In a phone interview with an Italian media outlet, Trump said, “When I talked to Meloni, she was probably happy. I shouldn’t have talked to her. She begged for a photo with me. She was so desperate for a photo with me. I felt sorry for her.”
Soon after this statement, Meloni released a video and clarified. He said, “Trump’s statement is completely fabricated. I am shocked. I do not understand why the American President behaves like this with his own allies. This is not the first time. He should remember one thing, I and Italy never beg.”
Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister canceled his visit to America

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani has suddenly canceled his US tour. “Trump’s serious and offensive statements about Prime Minister Meloni have angered all of Italy. For this reason, I have decided to cancel my US visit scheduled for June 21 and 22,” he tweeted.
