Savi Hindi Review: Divya Khosla’s acting will surprise you, how is ‘Savi’?

Savitri fought with Yamraj for the life of her husband Satyavan. In a conversation with director Abhinay Dev a few days ago, he claimed that his film ‘Savi’ is the story of a modern Savitri, who crosses all limits to save her husband. How will this film of Abhinay, who has directed international series like ’24’, be? Out of curiosity to know this, I watched ‘Savi’. Abhinay Dev has made a good thriller film along with Divya Khosla and Anil Kapoor, which will not disappoint you. But morally this story is not digestible. So let’s discuss this film in detail.

Story

Savi Sachdev (Divya Khosla) lives with her husband Nakul (Harshvardhan Rane) and son Aryan in Liverpool, London. She is a housewife and her husband works at a construction site. It seems as if someone has cast an evil eye on this happy family and Nakul is arrested by the London police in a murder case. Despite Savi’s many efforts, Nakul is convicted by the court and he is sentenced to 12 years. Now to know what this modern Savitri does to get her innocent husband out of jail, you will have to go to the theatre and watch ‘Savi’.

Savi is a jailbreak thriller film that keeps you hooked till the end. If you are a fan of thriller films, then the twists and turns in this story will entertain you a lot. The casting of the film is also quite different and refreshing. And all the credit for this must go to director Abhinay Dev.

Direction and Writing

The film ‘Pour Elle’ released in 2008 was a huge hit in France. Seeing the success of this film, Hollywood made an English version of this film ‘The Next Three Days’ with Russell Crowe and Elizabeth Banks. And by adapting this English film in Hindi, Abhinay Dev has now made ‘Saavi’. Many changes have been made in the screenplay and script of this film keeping in mind the thinking of the Indian audience. And this is the reason why we are able to connect with this film.

What is a tight screenplay? Abhinav Dev’s team has shown that in ‘Saavi’. Because of this engaging screenplay, the film does not bore us at all. When you have good actors, it is easy for the director to make a good film with them, but making a good picture with average actors is very challenging. And the director of Saavi has got award winning acting from actors like Divya Khosla and Harshvardhan Rane.

Acting

Divya has acted well in Saavi. After watching this film, it can be said that this is the best performance of Divya’s career so far. The scene going on in the film and her expressions match. There is no unnecessary expression anywhere in the whole film. Harshvardhan Rane has also done justice to his role. But the real hero of this film is Anil Kapoor. He has taken this entire film on his shoulders. We will not say much about his role, but his character is quite interesting. His entry takes the film to a different height.

In this movie Savi has been presented as ‘Savitri’, who fights with Yamraj for her husband’s life. But Savitri did not choose any wrong path to get her husband back. In this film, instead of proving her husband innocent, this modern Savitri is seen planning to escape him from jail. Even though such stories may be considered cool in France and Hollywood, we have become accustomed to seeing ‘truth winning’ in films. Because of this habit, this story is not digestible. And the thought comes to mind that if Savi had spent the time she is spending in planning her husband’s escape from jail, she had found evidence to prove him innocent, he would have been released from jail.

In today’s time, where there are many facilities like Indian Embassy which are ready to help their countrymen in trouble, instead of taking their help, Saavi’s planning to escape her husband from jail by reading a book seems wrong. Anyway, this is a film, if it is seen only as a medium of entertainment, then Special Film and T Series have delivered a good product this time in the form of ‘Saavi’. It can definitely be seen in the theatre.
