Car Tyre: Is the tyre suitable for driving on the highway or not? This is how you find out

It doesn’t matter if the car is new or old, sir. What matters is how old your car’s tyres are. Just like you replace your clothes or phones when they get old, tyres also have a life and they too need to be replaced. If you drive on the highway, you should first know whether the tyres can bear the pressure of a car running at high speed on the highway or not.

When a tyre becomes very old, it does not have the same capacity to bear pressure as a new tyre. Now the question arises that how to find out whether the tyre is suitable for driving on the highway or not, this can be known only when you pay attention to some things.

  • The first important thing, You have to notice whether the tyre is worn out or not. If the tyre of the vehicle is worn out, then replace it immediately, driving on the highway with such a tyre is not safe at all.
  • The second important thing, Before driving on the highway, you should know at what speed the tyre fitted in your vehicle can run. A special number is written on the tyre which reveals this fact. If P is written at the end of the tyre, it means that if a person drives the vehicle at a speed of 150km per hour, the tyre may burst.
  • If R is written at the end then the tyre may burst if the car is driven at a speed of 170km/h. As the alphabet increases, the speed increases by 10km/h. If Z is written then it means that no matter what the speed of the car is, the car should not be driven faster than 240 kmph. You can see any alphabet written on the tyre from K to Z. K means that the tyre may burst if the car is driven faster than 110 kmph.
  • The third important thing, If you often drive on the highway, then you must be aware of how high the speed of a car is on the highway. Due to high speed, more heat is generated in the tyres, so for the tyres to run properly, it is most important that you fill nitrogen air in the tyres instead of normal air, this will increase the life of the tyres, and your driving will be smooth on the highway without any hassle.

Which tyre is best for highway driving?

There are two types of tyres, radial tyres and bias-ply tyres. Let us find out which tyre is best for driving on the highway. The advantage of radial tyres is that they are able to withstand highway speeds and loads. The advantage of this tyre, which saves mileage and comes with a long life, is that it does not get punctured easily and this tyre handles high speed driving better.

Radial tyres have better grip on the road which gives better handling and stability to the vehicle. The price of these tyres is slightly higher than Bias Ply Tyres.

Bias-ply tyres were used in older vehicles, these tyres are great for riding at low speeds and off-road driving. Of course these tyres are less expensive but it is not advisable to use these tyres on the highway.

Tyre Damage: Driving with bad tyres is risky

When the tyre starts to wear out, you start seeing some signs on the tyre itself, such as the tyre starts to wear out and cracks start appearing in it. Not only this, if the tyre is getting damaged from anywhere, do not ignore this and get the tyre replaced immediately.

Wheel Alignment-Balancing is important

Before driving on the highway, make sure to check whether the car is going to the right or left side on its own when you let go of the steering for a few moments. If this is the case and you do not get this problem fixed, the life of the car’s tyres starts decreasing and after some time the tyres can burst while driving on the highway.
