Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 31 (Desk): Deputy District Election Officer Vineet Kumar Singh informed that polling parties have been dispatched for all 5 assembly constituencies of Gorakhpur district and necessary arrangements are being made as constituencies have VIP voters like UP CM Yogi Adityanath and Himachal Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla.
Deputy District Election Officer Vineet Kumar Singh detailing the arrangement and status of polling parties said, “Polling parties have been dispatched for all 5 assembly constituencies of Gorakhpur district and 3 assembly constituencies of Bainspur district… In 8 assembly constituencies, there are 3,271 polling booths and more than 50 per cent of the polling parties has get their kits. By doing a survey of our ARO we have identified critical and vulnerable booths and we have made a strategy to identify the vulnerable voters…”
When asked about facilities being offered to polling following intense heat in the region Vineet Kumar Singh said, “We are making all arrangements for then with the help of SDM and magistrate son that they don’t feel any difficulties in accommodation and food. We are appealing to all voters to come out of their houses and use their voting franchise as on June 1 voting time will be June 1. Gorakhpur has lot many VIP voters including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Himachal Governor and candidates from BJP, Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party”
Thirteen Lok Sabha seats, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Varanasi, will go to polls in the last and seventh phase of the general elections on Saturday.
Uttar Pradesh is seeing a direct contest between the BJP-led NDA and the coalition of INDIA bloc members Samajwadi Party and Congress. Besides Prime Minister Modi, who is seeking a third term from Varanasi, there are 143 candidates in the fray.
Among the prominent Lok Sabha seats are Varanasi, Gorakhpur, which has been represented by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath five times, Chandauli, Maharajganj and Mirzapur from where Union ministers Mahendra Nath Pandey, Pankaj Chaudhary and Anupriya Patel are contesting, respectively, Ghazipur from where the late Mukhtar Ansari’s brother Afzal Ansari is in the fray and Ballia from where former prime minister Chandrashekhar’s son Neeraj Shekhar is contesting.
Campaigning for the 13 seats in Uttar Pradesh ended on Thursday evening. (Desk)
