In 1727, Jaipur was founded by the infamous Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II and was developed with old attractions. Known for its remarkable past, the City Palace is one of the important places to visit in Jaipur city. This heritage monument boasts a blend of Mughal, European, and Rajputana architecture together and as a result, this palace stands as a symbol depicting the richness and royalty of Indian history. The City Palace Jaipur is actually a large complex that is housed inside a grand building along with other halls, palaces, gardens, gateways, and sacred temples. The place is actually built as the residence of the royal families.
History
The City Palace, Jaipur was constructed between 1729-1732 in Jaipur as it paints a picture of heritage and rich culture. Sawai Jai Singh II commissioned this palace especially the exterior architecture of the building. Moving out of Amer, he moved to the city of Jaipur as the problem of water shortage had increased resulting in inadequate supply of water to the people. Also, he called in a Bengali architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya who designed the complex following the rules of Vastu Shastra, which is why till date, the City Palace is listed as a major attraction of the state.
