A case has been registered against BJP MP K. Sudhakar and two others after a 30-year-old driver, M. Babu, named them in a suicide note before ending his life in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur.
Babu died by suicide on Thursday morning. His wife, Shilpa, lodged a police complaint based on the contents of the note he left behind.

The First Information Report (FIR) has named Sudhakar, along with Nagesh and Manjunath, under charges of financial fraud, abetment to suicide, and violations under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
In the note, Babu alleged that Sudhakar and Nagesh had defrauded him of Rs 25 lakh with the false promise of a job. He also held a Zilla Parishad accounts assistant responsible for pushing him to take the extreme step.
Police stated that Babu had been employed as a contract driver for the Zilla Panchayat’s Chief Accounts Officer for more than six years.
“A suicide was reported at Chikkaballapura DC office premises. We received information at around 8.30 am that someone had died by hanging from a tree,” Superintendent of Police Kushal Chouksey told news agency PTI.
Babu alleged that Nagesh and the accounts assistant had “cheated him of several lakhs of rupees,” promising to secure him a government job by leveraging the MP’s influence.
“These are serious allegations. A thorough investigation will determine whether the MP was directly involved or if his name was misused. We are examining all angles,” the officer said.
In the FIR, Sudhakar has been listed as Accused No. 1, Nagesh as Accused No. 2, and Manjunatha as Accused No. 3.
Earlier in the day, Sudhakar addressed reporters in Delhi, expressing his sorrow over the incident while denying any involvement in the case.
“I was deeply pained to hear about the suicide that took place at the DC office in Chikkaballapura. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s family. I have never seen or met this individual, Babu, in my public life,” he stated.
