At the G7 summit, President Trump claimed that Israel exists only because of him. The statement comes amid differences with Netanyahu over the Lebanon attacks and the US peace deal with Iran. Trump cited his tough steps against Iran.
During the G7 Summit in France, US President Donald Trump made a big claim saying that Israel exists only because of him. Trump’s statement comes amid ongoing differences with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He said that if America and he (Trump) were not there, Israel would have been erased from the world map. Trump said this after meeting with the Emir of Qatar.
Actually, America and Iran are going to sign a peace agreement this week. Earlier, Trump had asked Israel to stop bombing Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. Deep differences have arisen between the two leaders regarding this matter.
Trump said, “If America had not been there, Israel would not have existed. If I had not been there, Israel would not have existed. Because no other president had the courage to take such strong measures against Iran as I did. Iran was very close to making a nuclear weapon. If America had not intervened, they would have used it against Israel.”
Trump also claimed that his personal relationship with Netanyahu is very good. However, he also said that Netanyahu should show more responsibility when it comes to attacks in Lebanon. Trump also expressed displeasure over Israel’s long-running attacks in Lebanon and the deaths of civilians. He reminded that there is no need to destroy an entire apartment complex inhabited by civilians to find a Hezbollah fighter. Giving a different suggestion, Trump said that if Israel is not able to deal with Hezbollah, then this task should be handed over to Syria.
On the other hand, the Emir of Qatar has welcomed the ongoing talks between America and Iran. He expressed hope that this will bring good changes in the Gulf region. However, Netanyahu and the Israeli government are extremely angry with America’s talks with Iran.
