Ibrahim Ali Khan’s Sarzameen Dominates OTT; Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5 Debuts With 3.7 Million Views

The Indian audience had a variety of films to choose from this weekend on OTT platforms. From Hindi to Telugu and Malayalam, viewers consumed content with their families and friends.

The data for the last weekend of July and the beginning of August was released on Monday (August 4). Despite the criticism, Kajol, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan’s Sarzameen continued to top the chart. Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5 came second in its first weekend on OTT. Other films like Ronth, Kuberaa and 3 BHK made it to the top five.

Sarzameen rules

Sarzameen, directed by Kayoze Irani, received mixed to negative critical responses. Despite this, the film got a viewership of 4.8 million. It saw a decent growth from the debut week. Sarzameen released on JioHotstar on July 25.

 

Housefull 5’s impressive debut

Housefull 5, released on Amazon Prime Video on August 1, after a successful theatrical run. Starring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan, Dino Morea, Johny Lever, Chunky Panday, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Nana Patekar, Ranjeet, Nikitin Dheer, Sonam Bajwa and Soundarya Sharma, the comedy thriller got a viewership of 3.7 million in its debut week.

Other top 5 films

Dileep and Roshan Mathew’s Malayalam cop drama, Ronth, got a viewership of 2.6 million on JioHotstar. Directed by Shahi Kabir, the film saw a growth in viewership in the last week. Nagarjuna and Dhanush’s Kuberaa, released on Amazon Prime Video after a theatrical release. The film, directed by Sekhar Kammula, underperformed at the box office. It found a global audience on OTT. The movie, co-starring Rashmika Mandanna, was positioned in fourth place with 2 million viewership. 3 BHK saw a viewership of 1.2 million on Amazon Prime Video.
