Akhilesh Yadav Daughter Case: Who shared the controversial social media posts related to Akhilesh Yadav’s daughter and for what purpose? What new revelations can the technical information sought from Meta make in the investigation? Will the role of social media accounts operated from abroad come to light in this matter?
These days, one such issue has become the center of discussion in the politics of Uttar Pradesh, which has sparked debate from political circles to social media. Police have intensified investigation in the case of alleged objectionable comments and misleading pictures being circulated on social media against the daughter of Samajwadi Party national president and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
The matter is not limited to just social media posts, but now its investigation seems to be reaching beyond the borders of the country. Police and cyber cell teams are thoroughly investigating the identity of the accused and their activities on the basis of digital evidence.
Three accused identified, one auto driver from Pune
According to police sources, out of the three people against whom a case has been registered, one of the accused is said to be an auto driver hailing from Pune, Maharashtra. The digital location of the second accused was found in the US state of Pennsylvania. Technical investigation is still ongoing regarding the identity and activities of the third suspect. Police are trying to find out who was operating these accounts and for what purpose the alleged posts were shared.
Allegation of posting through Facebook accounts
According to the investigating agencies, some accounts operated on Facebook allegedly made indecent comments and shared misleading pictures about Akhilesh Yadav’s daughter. Considering the matter as serious, the police have registered a case under various legal sections including the IT Act. Officials say that the investigation is being carried forward entirely on the basis of digital forensic evidence and technical analysis so that all the facts can be confirmed before reaching any conclusion.
Technical information sought from Meta
To gather important clues in the investigation of the case, the cyber cell has sent an e-mail to the US headquarters of social media company Meta. In this, a request has been made to provide user ID, IP address, login history and other technical information of the concerned Facebook accounts. Police hope that on the basis of this information it will be clear from where and through which device the disputed posts were shared. However, till the time of writing the necessary information was not received from Meta.
Activity increased after Chief Minister’s statement
This whole matter gained more momentum when Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave a strict message from the public platform regarding respect for women and indecent comments on social media. The Chief Minister had said that objectionable comments against any daughter cannot be accepted and action will be taken against the culprits as per law. After this, the activity of police and cyber agencies has increased further.
Apology surfaced on social media
During investigation, information has also come to light that a post apologizing publicly has been shared from a Facebook account operating under the name “Nageshwar”. However, the police is still investigating under whose control this account was and what is its connection with the case.
Investigation based on digital evidence
Digital evidence plays the most important role in cases related to social media. Information like IP address, login records, device details and server data help in getting to the truth of any matter. This is the reason why the police is currently laying special emphasis on technical investigation and is expecting cooperation from other digital platforms including Meta.
At present, the investigation of the entire case is going on and the police want to confirm all the digital evidence before reaching any conclusion. Investigating agencies say that as soon as the technical report and necessary information are received, further legal action will be taken. Meanwhile, this matter is giving rise to a new debate regarding the politics of Uttar Pradesh, accountability of social media and increasing indecency on digital platforms.
