West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met the cyclone affected people at Jalpaiguri Super Specialty Hospital late night. CM Mamata Banerjee said that the administration will stand with the needy people. She said that I thank the administration for their disaster management efforts. Doctors, nurses and hospital staff are working well to handle the situation. CM said that the rescue operation has already ended.

In fact, due to the sudden storm on Sunday in some parts of Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, four people died while more than 100 people were injured. Officials said many huts and houses were damaged, trees were uprooted and electric poles were lashed by strong winds accompanied by hailstorm in most parts of the district headquarters town and many areas of neighboring Mainaguri.

He said that due to the storm, Rajarhat, Barnish, Bakali, Jorpakdi, Madhabdanga and Saptibari have been most affected, while crops grown in several acres of area have been damaged. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed grief over the loss of lives due to the storm and directed officials to ensure appropriate assistance to the affected people.

Four people died and more than 100 were injured after a sudden storm hit parts of Jalpaiguri district on Sunday. Prime Minister Modi said in a post on X that my condolences to the people affected by the storm in Jalpaiguri-Mainaguri area of ​​West Bengal. My condolences to those who lost their loved ones.

The Prime Minister said he spoke to officials and asked them to ensure appropriate assistance to the people affected by the heavy rains. He said that I appeal to all BJP workers in Bengal to help the affected people.

Officials said that the deceased have been identified as Dijendra Narayan Sarkar (52), Anima Burman (45), Jagan Roy (72) and Samar Roy (64). A senior official of Jalpaiguri district said that many pedestrians have been injured due to hailstorm. Disaster response teams have been deployed and help centers have been opened.

Raj Bhavan officials said that Governor CV Anand Bose will also leave for Jalpaiguri on Monday to visit the affected areas. He said that an emergency cell has been set up at Raj Bhavan to deal with the situation in Jalpaiguri.

Dhupguri MLA Nirmal Chandra Roy said that many people have been admitted to the hospital in injured condition. Banerjee said that civil administration, police and disaster management personnel have been deployed for relief work.

The Chief Minister posted on social media platform The pillars were uprooted. He said that the district administration will provide compensation to the families of the people and the injured in case of death as per the rules and following the MCC (Model Code of Conduct). According to an official statement, Governor Bose is in touch with the Disaster Management Authority in Delhi. He has requested to send more relief aid and rescue workers to Jalpaiguri.
