People of Delhi are going to get expensive electric shock. Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has given approval to power distribution companies to increase the Power Purchasing Adjustment Charge (PPAC) charge in electricity bills. The new electricity rates have come into effect from June 10, the effect of which will be visible in the electricity bills in the month of July. Electricity rates may increase by 1 percent to 3.30 percent. However, this will not affect all consumers. According to the information, consumers consuming electricity from 0 to 200 units and 200 to 400 units will get relief at present. This increase is not likely to have any significant impact on the electricity bills of this category of consumers. At the same time, consumers who spend more than 500 units of electricity may see the effect of increased rates in their bills. The electricity bill of such consumers may be higher than before.
