Another massive accomplishment has been added to Shreyasi Joshi’s expanding inline freestyle career. The star skater became the first Indian to win a medal at the Lishui Inline Freestyle International when she took home the bronze in the Senior Women’s Classic Slalom.
Joshi has already made a name for herself in the region because of her gold medals from the Asian Roller Skating Championships. Her most recent podium result in Lishui demonstrates her success in inline freestyle skating and adds another noteworthy milestone to her international record.
Who Is Shreyasi Joshi?
Shreyasi Joshi, who was born in Pune, Maharashtra, started skating with her sister Swarali when she was just three years old. The sisters’ early commitment and skill were demonstrated by the medals they were winning at national events by the time they were six years old. Shreyasi demonstrated both agility and accuracy in tight-turn skating and obstacle navigation as she grew, specialising in speed slalom and classic slalom.
She is also skilled in freestyle inline skating, which requires technical proficiency and inventiveness. She soon rose to prominence on the national circuit, dominating the age-group divisions before moving on to the senior women’s competitions.
Shreyasi won gold in both Speed Slalom and Classic Slalom, sweeping the senior girls’ division at the 59th National Roller Skating Championship in Mohali in December 2021. With an outstanding score of 83.33, she had the highest points in the girls’ division. She and Jinesh Nanal were the only skaters in India to win two gold medals in both speed slalom and classic slalom at the 62nd National Roller Skating Championship 2024 in Bengaluru.
She also competed in both freestyle and speed slalom events at the 2017 World Roller Games in Nanjing, China, when she was barely 12 years old. She finished 20th in freestyle slalom and 22nd in speed slalom. She was one of seven Pune skaters who qualified for the Indian team in the 19th Asian Games (Hangzhou 2023) trials, an impressive selection that demonstrated the city’s vibrant skating scene.
Double Gold In Asian Championships 2025
At the Asian Roller Skating Championships 2025 in South Korea, Shreyasi Joshi also made history by winning two gold medals. Shreyasi won her second gold in the Battle Slalom competition after being the first Indian to win gold in the Inline Freestyle-Classic Slalom.
