Crime Control Bill 2024 has come into force in Bihar. Crime Control Bill 2024 was introduced by in-charge Home Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav. While presenting the bill, he said that in the changing times, the 33-year-old Police Act was causing difficulty in preventing crime. Presently both the style and type of crime have changed. Therefore a new bill has been brought. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Samrat Chaudhary said that after the passing of this bill, mafia rule will end. We will eliminate sand mafia, liquor mafia and land mafia from Bihar. Due to the large number of MLAs of the ruling party in the Assembly, this bill was passed with majority in the House.
Opposition MLAs opposed this law in the Assembly. RJD MLA Bhai Virendra called it a black law. The Congress party has demanded a referendum regarding this bill. It is being told that in the new law being brought in place of the 33 year old law, the power of the police has been increased to stop gangsters and cyber criminals. In this, officers up to Inspector level have been given the power to search and seize goods. Earlier the police could not do this and the criminals would easily go free.
‘New law in view of the changing situation’
While presenting the law, Home Minister in-charge Vijendra Prasad Yadav said – This bill has been brought with the aim of controlling anti-social elements in Bihar. Due to the 40 year old law, there was difficulty in curbing the crimes happening today. Keeping in view the changing situation, the state government has brought a new act in accordance with the public opinion. The government has brought a new bill to control crimes related to illicit liquor, illegal mining, crimes against women, crimes against children, sexual crimes. After the implementation of the new bill, DM will be able to take action against criminals and curb them.
Mafia rule will end – Samrat Chaudhary
Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary said that I thank CM Nitish Kumar for bringing the Crime Control Bill 2024. With the introduction of this bill, the mafia rule of liquor mafia, sand mafia and land mafia will be ended.
