Shreyas Iyer Confirms Participation in Duleep Trophy 2025

Shreyas Iyer to Play in Duleep Trophy

Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer has announced his availability to participate in the Duleep Trophy representing the West Zone.

The tournament is set to commence on August 28, with regional selections scheduled for August 1, 2025, in Mumbai.

In addition to Iyer, Mumbai’s middle-order batsman Sarfaraz Khan and all-rounder Shivam Dubey have also confirmed their participation. Both players have informed the Mumbai Cricket Association about their availability.

A source from the Mumbai Cricket Association confirmed to a news outlet that Iyer has expressed his readiness to compete in the Duleep Trophy. Other players, including Sarfaraz, Shivam Dubey, and Tushar Deshpande, have also confirmed their availability.

Iyer has played 14 Test matches for India, scoring five half-centuries and one century. However, he has not participated in international red-ball cricket since February 2024 against England. He was a crucial member of the Indian team that won the Champions Trophy in Dubai earlier this year.

It is noteworthy that the 2025-26 domestic season will kick off with the Duleep Trophy on August 28. The senior women’s inter-zonal multi-day trophy will conclude on April 3, 2026. The Ranji Trophy season is set to begin on October 15, with the first phase running until November 19, and the second phase from January 22 to February 1, 2026.
