Research by the Indian Council of Medical Research-National Institute of Nutrition (ICMR-NIN) has revealed that deficiency of some vitamins can become a big problem among Indians. This increases the risk of forgetfulness or dementia. According to this report, the role of nutrients is important in maintaining brain health. It has been seen that the cases of this disease are increasing rapidly among Indians. People are becoming victims of dementia at an early age.

Actually, due to increasing cases, scientists are continuously searching for its possible reasons. One of the consequences of this is not taking proper nutrition. Experts say that deficiency of not only Vitamin B12 but also B6, B2 and Vitamin D in the body weakens the health of the brain. Let us tell you what the research says and what methods can be tried to avoid this.

What is dementia?

This is a brain related disease in which a person starts losing his memory. Apart from this, symptoms like thinking power, nature and not doing daily tasks properly are also seen. Well, the biggest reason for its occurrence is increasing age. But experts believe that if you have problems related to lifestyle and health, then you may also suffer from dementia.

What does research say?

This research has been published in The Lancet Regional Health- South East Asia Journal. In this, urban and rural people of Telangana were included. Their age was between 40 to 80 and 570 people participated in it. The cognitive health, eating habits and level of vitamins present in the blood of all of them were monitored. So that we can know to what extent dementia is related to poor nutrition.

The report shows that about 40 percent of the contestants were found to be at high risk of amnesia. The people who were found to be more afraid of this disease had more deficiency of Vitamin D, B2, B6 and B12. Those whose eating habits are constantly bad, mistakes like consuming too much saturated fat and eating less healthy things are making us sick in many ways.

On the contrary, the people included in the research who ate fruits, vegetables and things rich in micronutrients were found to have less risk of dementia.

genetic causes

However, it has also been seen in research that genetics is also a reason for dementia. But it is very important to improve the diet. Apart from this, it is also important to avoid diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, smoking and not being physically active. Researchers say that there is a connection between vitamin deficiency and dementia, but it is not right to say that this is the reason for this disease.

Experts say that by the year 2050, cases of dementia will increase in India. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to its prevention. For this, take a diet rich in balance and nutrients. Adequate intake of essential vitamins and minerals and adopting a healthy lifestyle can help in keeping the brain healthy for a long time.
