Ravie Dubey on Playing Lakshman in ‘Ramayana’: “It Still Feels Surreal, Only Divine Grace Made it Happen”

Actor Ravie Dubey has opened up about the profound experience of portraying Lord Lakshman in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming cinematic epic, ‘Ramayana’.

Even after completing the shoot nearly two-and-a-half years ago, Dubey admits the magnitude of the role is yet to fully sink in, describing the feeling as “surreal.”

Dubey shared his emotional journey during a special Diwali episode of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. When asked about his thoughts on landing such a pivotal role, Dubey candidly expressed, “Sir, even now… it has been two to two-and-a-half years since we shot the film, and today, all of us are sitting here in your presence… I still feel as though this isn’t really happening, that perhaps somewhere in my mind, something like an illusion, a dream, is unfolding.”

He further elaborated on the moment he learned about securing the role, stating, “When I first learned that I was going to play Lakshman in ‘Ramayana’, I was stunned. It still hasn’t sunk in, hand on heart.” Ravie and his wife, actress Sargun Mehta, attribute this opportunity to ‘kripa’ or divine grace. “My wife Sargun and I believe that if things happen, they happen only through grace, through divine ordinance and divine grace,” he affirmed.

The highly anticipated ‘Ramayana’ features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Maa Sita, promising a grand cinematic retelling of the epic.
