In West Bengal, CM Suvendu Adhikari distributed portfolios to the ministers of his new government. Swapan Dasgupta has been made the Finance Minister. The CM has kept important departments like Home and Energy with himself.
Kolkata: In West Bengal, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has divided the portfolios of the new ministers of his government. Senior leader and former Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta has been given the responsibility of the Finance Department. Whereas, Tapas Roy has got the Industry Ministry. Talking about other ministers, Sharadwat Mukherjee has been given the health department and Dud Kumar Mondal has been given the agriculture department. Journalist-turned-politician Jagannath Chattopadhyay will be the Higher Education Minister, while Deepak Burman will look after the school education department.
Shankar Ghosh has got the responsibility of Tourism and Parliamentary Affairs Department. Arjun Singh has been made the Labor and Transport Minister. As Minister of State (Independent Charge), Indranil Khan will hold the portfolios of Sports, Youth and Commerce. Another Minister of State Malti Rava Roy has been given the responsibility of Women and Child Development Department.
Let us tell you that on June 1 this year, 35 new ministers took oath in West Bengal. With this, the total number of ministers in the cabinet led by Suvendu Adhikari has increased to 41. Earlier on May 9, five ministers had taken oath along with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. The cabinet includes 19 cabinet ministers including the Chief Minister, three ministers of state with independent charge and 19 ministers of state.
Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has kept important departments like Home, Land Reforms, Relief and Energy with himself. At the same time, senior BJP leader and former state president Dilip Ghosh has been given departments like Panchayat, Rural Development and Agricultural Marketing. It is noteworthy that under the leadership of Suvendu Adhikari, BJP has gained power in Bengal by ending the 15-year long Trinamool Congress rule.
