As soon as he started his Test career, Manav achieved that magical success which every young bowler dreams of.
23 year old young spin all-rounder Manav Suthar got a chance to debut in the only test match against Afghanistan. Then he gave a chance to the Indian cricket fans to dance by taking a wicket in his very first over. He dismissed Abdul Malik on the fourth ball of his first over. (PHOTO CREDIT- PTI)
With this wicket, Manav Suthar’s name got registered in the history of Indian cricket. Manav Suthar became the first Indian in the last 25 years to take a wicket in the very first over on Test debut. Before Manav Suthar, the last time fast bowler Tinu Yohannan had the distinction of taking a wicket in his first Test over was in 2001 against England.
Manav Suthar is only the 8th Indian bowler to take a wicket in the very first over on Test debut. The names of bowlers like Montu Banerjee, Manohar Hardikar, Waman Kumar, Chetan Sharma, WV Raman and Nilesh Kulkarni are included in this list.
Amazing bowling was seen from Manav Suthar in the first innings of this match. He gave only 10 runs in his first 10 overs and took 2 wickets. During this period he also bowled 5 maiden overs.
