India will soon receive a facelift of a car many call the “best car in the world.” The car is the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, and its facelift will launch on 5th October. Here’s what the world’s most luxurious Mercedes offers. Most Luxurious Mercedes Coming To India
Expect this most luxurious Mercedes to have a larger illuminated grille, rose-gold accents on the twin-star headlamps, and side sills fitted with a light projector that casts the Maybach name onto the ground every time you open the door. Illuminated Maybach lettering spans the boot, along with the standing three-pointed star.
You get two new wheel options: 21-inch forged alloys in gold finish and 20-inch polished forged wheels. Both wheel designs flaunt a self-centring, weighted floating Mercedes star that stays perfectly upright even at speed.
New Mercedes S-Class Interior
The interior of the 2026 Maybach S-Class has been redesigned around the concept of serenity and harmony. The rear seats can recline up to 43 degrees, six more than the standard S-Class. The seats offer heating, ventilation and also a massage function. Two smartphone-style remotes replace the previous tablet control, which lets you control the car from the rear.
Buyers get more personalisation options for the interior, with a wider choice of leather upholstery colours. Also a first for Maybach, a leather-free vegan upholstery option with its own unique design.
Up front, you get a dashboard layout similar to the regular S-Class, with the superscreen setup: a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.4-inch central touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch passenger display. Four supercomputers manage everything in the car: the screens, the safety features, and even the driving dynamics.
Engine Options
You get three engine options. The S 680 gets an updated V8 petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system. Its power output matches the outgoing V12 engine. Mercedes hasn’t replaced the V12; it’s still available as optional equipment.
The S 580 also comes with a V8, assisted by a mild-hybrid system. There’s also a PHEV model that has an electric-only range of up to 100 km. This pretty much eliminates frequent petrol station visits if your commutes are under 100 kilometres. These new powertrains are more refined, efficient, and quieter. The current S 580 is locally assembled in India (CKD), and the S 680 comes as a completely built unit (CBU).
The new air suspension in the Maybach S-Class comes with predictive damping.
New Mercedes S-Class Expected Price
The current S 580 is priced at Rs. 3.28 crore (on-road, Mumbai). We expect the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class to be priced between Rs. 3.5 Cr and Rs. 4 Cr.
