Actor Suhail Nayyar has opened up about his physical transformation for his role in the upcoming film ‘Udta Teer’, in which he will share screen space with Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan.
Directed by Aakash Kaushik, the film features Suhail as a spy in a complex and layered character. For the role, the actor underwent a significant physical transformation, including growing a moustache and building a physique that audiences have not seen him sport before.
Talking about his preparation, Suhail said the film gave him an opportunity to portray a completely different avatar. He trained every day, altered his diet and focused on gaining muscle to achieve the physicality required for the character.
“The moustache added another layer to the transformation. I also worked quite a bit on the dialect because I wanted it to feel natural and rooted in the character,” he said.
Suhail said that beyond his appearance and voice, the character has several layers and complexities while also bringing an element of fun to the film.
“Aakash has made a really fresh spy comedy, and I’m very grateful to Guneet, Achin and Dharma Productions for trusting me with this role,” he said.
He also praised his co-star Ayushmann Khurrana, describing him as “brilliant” at his work and equally warm off screen. Suhail said the two had a good experience working together.
As part of his preparation, the actor followed a protein-heavy diet and maintained a daily training routine to build the required look and physicality.
‘Udta Teer’ follows Bilal, a Pakistani intelligence operative who loses his memory after an explosion and wakes up believing that he is an officer with India’s Counter-Terrorism Squad.
The film combines espionage, mistaken identity and action with satire and fourth-wall-breaking comedy, with the confusion surrounding Bilal’s identity driving much of the humour.
Produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, ‘Udta Teer’ is scheduled to release theatrically on October 9, 2026.
