Even though critics are giving very positive reactions to Bobby Deol starrer and Anurag Kashyap directed film ‘Bandar’, its progress at the box office seems to be very slow. The film’s opening was below expectations and it is not able to hold its own amid consecutive big releases. While on one hand the performance of the film is being praised, on the other hand the earning figures seem to be out of trend. Now all eyes are on its weekend, which will decide whether this film will survive or its decline will be more rapid.
How much did the ‘Monkey’ earn on the second day?
According to the report of trade tracking website sacnilk.com, there was a big jump in the earnings of crime thriller film ‘Bandar’ on the second day. Despite this the film could not touch the figure of Rs 1 crore. The film made a net collection of Rs 95 lakh on Saturday, which is almost 90 percent more than the collection of Rs 50 lakh on the first day i.e. Friday. After two days, the net collection of this film in India has reached Rs 1.45 crore and the gross collection has reached Rs 1.74 crore. It remains to be seen how this film performs on the third day i.e. the first Sunday after its release.

Why is ‘Bandar’ struggling at the box office?
‘Bandar’ is currently facing competition from many big films, including Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor starrer Telugu pan India sports drama ‘Peddi’, Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde starrer romantic comedy ‘Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’. Akshay Kumar starrer horror comedy film ‘Bhoot Bangla’ is still standing at the box office even after 50 days. Competition from commercial entertainers and Pan India films is impacting the earnings of ‘Bandar’, while the film has received positive reviews from critics. Apart from this, the number of shows of this film is also very less. On Saturday, 1,257 shows of ‘Bandar’ were shown across the country.
What is the story of ‘Monkey’?
The story of the film revolves around Samar (Bobby Deol), who gets trapped in a false case and a media trial. The film shows the conflict between system and man, which is being appreciated by the audience. Bobby Deol’s performance is especially being considered the strongest aspect of the film. Apart from Bobby, the film also stars Sanaya Malhotra, Sapna Pabbi, Saba Azad, Indrajit Sukumaran, Jeetendra Joshi, Raj B. Artists like Shetty, Riddhi Sen and Nagesh Bhosle have also worked.
