‘Kabhi Kabhi Selection Mein Kami…’: Salman Khan Addresses ‘Boring’ Contestant Line-Up On ‘Bigg Boss 20’

Bigg Boss 20’ has faced criticism from viewers over its contestant line-up, with many calling the current season less entertaining than expected.

Host Salman Khan has now addressed the criticism and admitted that there can sometimes be shortcomings in the selection process.

During Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman asked Amrapali Dubey whether she felt anything was lacking in the Bigg Boss 20 house. She replied in the negative.

Salman then said, “Humne socha chaanth chaanth ke contestants laayenge lekin kabhi kabhi humare selection mein Kami padh jaati hai. Aur usmein jab aap bolte ho ki koi kami-naa toh Hume lagta hai ek ya do kamina toh hoga hi ghar mein naa (We thought we would carefully select the contestants, but sometimes there are shortcomings in our selection. And when you say that there are no shortcomings, we feel there has to be one or two ‘kameena’ people in the house, right?).”

Salman also told the contestants that it was a privilege to have them on the show, before taking a sarcastic dig, saying, “Aap logon ki duaon ki wajah se, contribution ki wajah se aur rules ke ulanghano ki wajah se, aapke badtameezi ki wajah se, emotions aur task ki wajah se aur gaaliyan ko hum kaat dete hain; aap mera naam zarur roshan karoge (Because of your prayers, your contribution, your violations of the rules, your misbehaviour, your emotions and the tasks, and because we cut out the abuses, you will definitely make me proud).”

This season features a mix of actors, singers, digital creators and sports personalities. The line-up includes actors Mahhi Vij, Aasif Khan, Aman Gandhi and Amrapali Dubey, singers Qazi Touqeer, Rhiti Tiwari and Yung DSA, YouTuber ScoutOP, content creator Arishfa Khan and sports personality Mary Kom.

While the casting received a mixed response from viewers, the first week of ‘Bigg Boss 20’ managed to keep audiences engaged.

Hosted by Salman, ‘Bigg Boss 20’ premiered on September 6 with 16 contestants entering the house.

This season has introduced a new format in which contestants have two lives to help them save themselves from nominations.

The twist came into play during the latest Weekend Ka Vaar, when Uditi Singh lost one of her lives after receiving the fewest votes from the audience.

Kanika Mann, meanwhile, lost her vardaan during the week after captain Yung DSA took it away from her.

‘Bigg Boss 20’ airs on Colors TV and is available to stream on JioHotstar.
