India vs Afghanistan Test: For Indian cricket fans, the moment has finally arrived for which they were waiting for months. After a long wait of 193 days, the Indian team is once again ready to take the field in white jersey to create a stir with the red ball. This only Test match between India and Afghanistan will be played from June 6 at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh.
Both teams will face each other again after 8 years
This is only the second time in the history of Test cricket when the teams of India and Afghanistan will play against each other in this Test format. Earlier, the only Test match between the two teams was played in Bengaluru in the year 2018, where the Indian team performed one-sidedly and registered a spectacular victory by an innings and 262 runs. Now after a long wait of 8 years, these two teams are going to face each other again in Test cricket.
At the same time, the Indian team played its last Test match against South Africa in November last year. Since then the team has been continuously busy in limited overs cricket. With this match, the drought of 193 days of players and fans will end. Under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, the Indian team consisting of young and experienced players will emerge as a strong contender for victory in this match. Although this match is not a part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC), it will prove to be an excellent platform for both the teams to test their red-ball preparations.
waiting for victory at home
In this match, Team India will be eyeing victory along with ending the long wait. Actually, the Indian team won its last Test match at home against West Indies in October last year. Since then, Team India has not won any test match at home. During this time, it had to face 0-2 defeat in the 2-match Test series against South Africa at home.
