Toyota’s lifestyle pickup will get a generational update this month. The latest teaser reveals the front-end of the model with more modern and rugged aesthetics. We already know that the new model will get a honeycomb pattern grille, along with slim LED headlamps. The side profile remains largely unchanged; however, it now sits on a new set of alloys.

The same exterior update is also expected to be carried over to the new-gen Fortuner that could arrive by early 2027. This is because both the Hilux and Fortuner share the same platform.

Interior

The teaser didn’t reveal anything related to the interior of the model. However, we are expecting this pickup to boast several changes. The model will feature a new dashboard layout, a new interior theme, and a new steering wheel. The feature suite on the model is expected to include a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 9-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and more.

Similar to the exterior, the interior updates are also expected to be available on the new Fortuner. However, it would get more features like a panoramic sunroof and a JBL sound system compared to the new-gen Hilux.

Powertrain

The Toyota Hilux is expected to retain the 2.8-litre diesel engine (201 bhp & 500 Nm) from the outgoing model. Transmission duties will be handled by a manual or a torque converter automatic gearbox option. We are also expecting the inclusion of a 48V mild-hybrid setup with the new Hilux, as the Fortuner already has it.

Launch & Pricing

The new-generation Toyota Hilux is set to launch on July 28. Expect the pricing to be around Rs. 36 lakh – Rs. 46 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).  Moreover, Toyota could also plan to launch the new-generation Fortuner following the launch of the Hilux, somewhere around late 2026 or early 2027.
