A new revelation has come to light regarding the owner Lavkesh Bajaj, who was arrested after the massive fire that broke out in an illegal hotel bed-and-breakfast (B&B) in Delhi. According to the police, Bajaj was arrested in a case last year also. He was accused of allowing some Bangladeshi nationals to use his address to obtain Indian identity documents and helping them in their illegal residence in India.

Accused of allowing Bangladeshi citizens to use the address

According to Deputy Police Commissioner (Central) Rohit Rajbir Singh, Lavkesh Bajaj had knowingly allowed Bangladeshi nationals to use his address in Delhi’s Chhatarpur Enclave. Police allege that this address was used to make Indian documents like Aadhar card and passport. In this matter, a case was registered in January 2025 under sections related to cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy.

What did the investigation reveal?

During police investigation, it was found that a Bangladeshi woman, her daughter and her minor grandson were living illegally in Paharganj area. The investigating agencies found Indian identity cards in his possession which were allegedly obtained fraudulently. According to the police, investigation also revealed that one of the men had obtained an Indian passport using the address of Lavkesh Bajaj.

Chargesheet against three accused including Bajaj

DCP Rohit Rajbir Singh said that during interrogation, the role of Lavkesh Bajaj in the case of fraud and forgery had come to light. He said Bajaj was arrested after sufficient evidence was found. Apart from this, a Bangladeshi woman and her daughter were also arrested. After completion of the investigation, a charge sheet was filed in the court against the three accused. At the same time, a report was also submitted as per the law regarding the minor involved in the case.

Arrest made again after Delhi B&B fire accident

On Wednesday, 21 people died in a fire incident at a B&B in Delhi, while 21 others were injured. Police arrested Lavkesh Bajaj a few hours after the accident. According to preliminary investigation, the fire started in the kitchen of the restaurant located on the ground floor of the building, after which the fire spread rapidly.

Did not have a valid license to run a restaurant

The investigation conducted after the fire incident also revealed that Lavkesh Bajaj did not have a valid license to operate the restaurant. According to the report, he only had permission to run a “tea and snacks outlet”. Under this license, cooking or seating arrangements for customers was not allowed. Not only this, this license had also expired on March 31, 2026.

License renewal application made after fire

Investigation also revealed that Lavkesh Bajaj had applied for license renewal just hours after the news of the fire broke. However, the concerned authorities did not accept this application and rejected it. Delhi Police and other concerned agencies are investigating the cause of the fire, compliance with safety rules and licensing irregularities.
