Adhik Maas Kala Ashtami 2026: In Sanatan Dharma, Kalashtami is celebrated on the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha of every month. On this day, Lord Kaal Bhairav is worshiped and fasted with full rituals. Lord Kaal Bhairav is the incarnation of Mahadev. His form is fierce. Do not make these mistakes on the day of Kalashtami
Do not hit the dog with shoes or slippers: On the day of Kalashtami, do not show shoes or slippers to the dog or hit him. Also do not cause any kind of injury to him. In Sanatan Dharma, dog is considered a symbol of Kaal Bhairav.
Do not feed fake food: Do not feed fake food to the dog even by mistake on the day of Kalashtami. Those who do this are held guilty of insulting Kalabhairava. On this day, give soft bread, jaggery or sweet biscuits to the black dog.
Do not eat salt: If you keep fast on the day of Kalashtami, then do not eat salt even by mistake. By doing this the fast is broken, which leads to inauspicious results.
Do not consume non-vegetarian food and alcohol: Consumption of non-vegetarian food and alcohol is prohibited even for those who do not fast on the day of Kalashtami. If you do this, the result is harmful.
Do not do unethical things: Stay away from any kind of immoral activity on the day of Kalashtami. In the scriptures, Kalabhairav has been considered as ‘Dandapani’. On this day, Kaal Bhairav gives severe punishment to those who do wrong.
Do this work on Kalashtami
On the day of Kalashtami, feed milk to a black dog or feed him bread and milk. Light a mustard oil lamp for him in Kaal Bhairav temple. Give little boys their favorite thing. Donate urad dal, black sesame and mustard oil in Kaal Bhairav temple. It is believed that by doing these works Kaal Bhairav Dev becomes happy and removes the troubles of life.
