Booking someone else’s ticket using personal ID is a crime
Booking tickets for others using personal ID can cost you heavily. Actually, under Section 143, train tickets can be booked only by a person who has been officially appointed. Only these people can book tickets for others with their ID.
A normal person can book tickets using his personal ID only for his blood relations and people with the same surname. Apart from this, if someone books the ticket of a friend or someone else, then he can be fined Rs 10,000 or jail for 3 years. In many cases both these punishments can be given.
Ticket booking time and rules
If you want to book Tatkal AC ticket then it starts at 10 am. Booking of non-AC tickets starts at 11 am. A user can book up to 24 tickets in a month from one user ID on the IRCTC website. Note that you can do this only when your user ID is linked to your Aadhar card. If your user ID is not linked to Aadhaar then you can book only up to 12 tickets in a month.
