In the early hours of Diwali, 41 laborers were trapped due to collapsing debris in the Silkyara Tunnel under construction in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. The workers spent 17 days working hard here and finally came out. Lakhimpur Manjeet of Uttar Pradesh, who came out of the Silkyara Tunnel, has shared videos of the time inside the tunnel when he was stuck and it was becoming difficult to spend every minute. Manjeet told how they were dependent on a four-inch pipe for food, water and air. Manjeet told how after 3-4 days he got khichdi to eat to his heart’s content. Dry fruits were sent to them through pike, then fruits were sent, then water and hot khichdi were sent in bottles. Manjeet told that when he started giving up, other friends would encourage him and give him hope to live.
