Hormuz Strait News: The possibility of a big deal between America and Iran has increased. After the statements of Marco Rubio and Donald Trump, the eyes of the world have focused on this agreement regarding Hormuz Strait, oil trade and Iran’s nuclear program.
US Iran Ceasefire Agreement: Amidst the long-running tension in the Middle East, such a diplomatic stir has now intensified, on which the eyes of the whole world are fixed. For the first time, such positive signs have emerged regarding the ongoing talks between America and Iran. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said during his visit to India that “good news may come about Iran in the next few hours.” His statement has given rise to new discussions regarding international politics, oil market and global security.
Rubio’s statement comes at a time when US President Donald Trump has already indicated that a possible agreement between Washington and Tehran has reached the final stages. If this deal is successful, its impact will not only be limited to America and Iran, but will also affect the worldwide economy, oil supply and the stability of West Asia.
What did Marco Rubio say on his visit to India?
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is on a four-day official visit to India, said in a joint press conference with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar that there has been significant progress in the talks in the last 48 hours. He especially expressed hope for a solution regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Rubio’s statement is also considered important because the Strait of Hormuz is counted among the most important maritime trade routes in the world. A large part of the global oil supply passes through this route. Concern about this route had increased in the past months due to regional tensions and military activities.

Trump also indicated agreement
US President Donald Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social that talks between the US and Iran to end the war-like situation and fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz are in the final stages. Trump wrote that discussions are ongoing on the final points of the agreement and it may be formally announced soon. However, he did not clarify what conditions would be included in this deal regarding sanctions, oil exports and nuclear program.
The biggest hurdle still remains on uranium
Amidst the discussion of the agreement, the biggest question remains regarding Iran’s nuclear program. The New York Times report claimed that Iran could agree in principle to limit or remove its highly enriched uranium stock. According to the report, detailed talks can take place on this topic within the next 30 to 60 days. America has long sought to control Iran’s nuclear program. However, a senior Iranian official later rejected these claims. Speaking to Reuters, he said that the initial agreement being drawn up does not include the nuclear issue and Iran has not agreed to send its enriched uranium out of the country.
IAEA report increases concern
According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iran currently has about 400 kg of 60 percent enriched uranium. Experts consider it very close to the capability of making weapons. This is the reason why America and its allied countries are considering nuclear program as the most important issue in any agreement. Western countries believe that if this program is not controlled, a new security crisis may arise in the region.
Britain also kept its condition
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has also reacted on this issue. He said that in any agreement between America and Iran, it should be necessary to open the Strait of Hormuz completely without any conditions and without any obstruction. Starmer wrote on social media platform X that he welcomed progress in talks, but that Iran should never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons.
What will be the impact on India?
If this agreement between America and Iran is successful, then its direct impact can be seen on India also. India is largely dependent on West Asia for its energy needs. The safe and normal operation of the Strait of Hormuz can stabilize the supply of crude oil and bring relief to oil prices in the international market. Experts believe that this can also reduce global shipping costs and importing countries like India will get economic benefits.
Can stress really end?
At present, positive statements have come from both America and Iran, but there is still no clear consensus on many issues. Especially differences persist on issues like nuclear programme, relief in sanctions and regional security. Nevertheless, the speed with which the talks have progressed in the last few days has given the world hope that perhaps the long-running tension in West Asia is now moving towards a major agreement.
