Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna’s Cocktail 2 is one of this month’s most exciting releases. Directed by Homi Adajania, the film is the second installment in the Cocktail franchise.
A few days ago, the makers unveiled the official trailer at an event in Mumbai. According to a media report, Shahid, Kriti and Rashmika-starrer is one of the most expensive rom-coms of Hindi cinema. It has been reported that Rs 150 crore is the landing cost of Cocktail 2. Interestingly, this romantic comedy is rumoured to have already recovered 50 per cent of its budget.
Cocktail 2 budget revealed?
Bollywood Hungama report suggests that Cocktail 2’s production value is around Rs 95 crore, while Rs 35 crore fees have apparently been allotted to Shahid, Kriti and Rashmika. A source told the entertainment portal that Rs 20 crore is being spent on print and publicity. The summation of these values comes upto Rs 150 crore. 50 per cent of the film’s budget has apparently been recovered through pre-sales.
The media report also mentions producer Dinesh Vijan as someone who doesn’t compromise once he believes in a vision of project. “Cocktail 2 is not being treated as just another romantic comedy; it has been mounted like a big-screen entertainer,” the source added.
The producer is said to have gone all out on scale, locations, music, styling and presentation with Cocktail 2. The rom-com was reportedly shot over 70 days across the globe. Backed by Maddock Films, the movie is scheduled for a grand theatrical release on June 19 this year.
Is Cocktail 2 a lesbian love story?
At the trailer launch event, Kriti reacted to the rumours of Cocktail 2 being a .The Bollywood actress stated in Hindi, “I think it is really sad because if it were two boys, people would simply call it a bromance. But if it’s two girls, somehow people refuse to believe they can just be friends.”
Homi Adajania, on the other hand, clarified where the rumour originated from. He recalled Rashmika and Kriti being a ‘little cuddly’ with each other on set because they are friends. That’s when the team hypothetically though what if the story was about them and Shahid was a third angle.
