Ranveer Singh Got Small Fixed Amount As Fee For Dhurandhar: Producer Reveals How Actor Benefitted After Film Became Blockbuster

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar franchise has rewritten box office history. The two films, Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: Revenge, together grossed over Rs 3,000 crore worldwide, placing them among the biggest successes in Indian cinema.

While audiences celebrated the action-packed story and Ranveer’s performance, producer Jyoti Deshpande has now shared interesting details about the business side of the project. She revealed that Ranveer and director Aditya Dhar did not take massive upfront payments. Instead, they agreed to a different model that allowed them to earn more once the films became successful. The strategy eventually proved beneficial for everyone involved.

Ranveer Singh, Aditya Dhar Took Share In Profit

Speaking about the film’s financial structure, Jyoti Deshpande told ET Digital that both  and Aditya Dhar agreed to work for smaller fixed fees. Instead of taking huge payments before the film’s release, they chose to participate in the profits generated by the project.

According to the producer, this approach helped distribute both risk and reward among the stakeholders. If the film performed well, everyone would benefit from its success. Since Dhurandhar went on to become a massive blockbuster, both Ranveer and Aditya reportedly earned well through profit-sharing.

Jyoti also explained that the makers were fully committed to delivering the film on a grand scale. As production progressed, the budget grew much larger than initially expected. However, the team remained confident about the film’s potential and continued investing in the vision.

The gamble paid off in spectacular fashion. Not only did the first film become a major success, but the sequel also attracted huge audiences worldwide.

How Dhurandhar Became A Two-Part Film Franchise

Interestingly, Dhurandhar was never planned as a two-film saga. Jyoti Deshpande revealed that the project was originally written, budgeted, and developed as a single standalone movie. The makers entered production with the intention of telling the complete story in one film.

However, things changed after the first shooting schedule was completed. The footage impressed the team, and they felt the story had much more potential than they had initially imagined. At the same time, the production budget had already exceeded the original estimates. Rather than compressing the story, the makers decided to expand it into two parts.

Jyoti said the team believed Dhurandhar had the ingredients to become a long-running franchise similar to globally successful series. Their faith in the project proved correct, as both films became box office sensations like never seen before.
