A lot has been said, discussed and criticised about Yash and Geethu Mohandas’ Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-Ups, which also stars Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth and Huma Qureshi. Its teaser sparked severe criticism over the portrayal of women. Later, the Tabaahi featuring Yash and Kiara’s sizzling chemistry became a topic of conversation. The film’s recently released trailer revealed more about its storyline without focusing much on the “Ladies and Ladies” aspect. However, the criticism has continued. Amid this, Yash has finally broken his silence on the backlash over “vulgarity.”
Yash REACTS To Toxic Being Slammed Over ‘Vulgarity’
On Aap Ki Adaalat, the Kannada star was asked about the criticism surrounding the film’s portrayal of women, steamy scenes and more. Responding to the backlash , said in Hindi, is wrong. Maine toh kiss bhi nahi kiya hain, agar aapne dekha hoga toh (Vulgarity is wrong. I haven’t even kissed, as you may have noticed).”
He continued, “Ek line hai, woh humko bhi pata hain. You have to shoot in an aesthetic way aur baad me jo vicerally lagta hain na, that is the impact of cinema. Woh ek creator ka voice hota hain (There is a certain line, and we understand that. You have to shoot things aesthetically, and what may seem visually appealing later is the impact of cinema. That is a creator’s voice).”
Toxic
further explained that the film was made with a specific intent, with its emotions playing a very important role. He added that audiences would understand the filmmaker’s vision better after watching the film.
Toxic Is For Gen Zs: Yash
The KGF star said, “Toxic is for s. It’s for the conversations you guys are having, what problems you guys have with the seniors. Us generation ke baarein me aap log jo questions puchte ho usme kya galti hain, kyun aisa fixed rules hai, kyun aisa hi karna chahiye (It is about the questions you ask about that generation – what is wrong with them, why there are fixed rules, why things have to be done a certain way).”
Yash said that these thoughts and questions form the core of the film.
