LPL 2026: The squads of all the teams have been finalized for the sixth season of the Lanka Premier League to be held from July 17 to August 8. Five teams will also participate in the sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League, which includes a total of 97 players. The 5 teams of Lanka Premier League are- SC Jaffna Kings, Colombo Caps, Kandy Royals, Galle Gallants and Dambulla Sixers. Among these, Jaffna Kings is the current champion of LPL. This time in the Lanka Premier League, the rule used in IPL will also be implemented, against which Sachin Tendulkar has raised his voice. The Impact Player rule will be used for the first time in LPL.
Sachin against Impact Player rule, will now be seen in LPL
Sachin Tendulkar has already demanded removal of impact player rule from IPL. The reason behind this demand is that he believes that there are already challenges for the bowlers in T20 matches. In such a situation, it is not right to add another batsman. This creates an imbalance. Just after Sachin raised this voice against the Impact Player Rule, its use was announced in LPL 2026 also.
One Indian among 97 players
The 5 teams of the Lanka Premier League include 97 players, some of whom have already been signed. The rest have been added to the team through the draft held in Colombo on June 1. Now the question is how many Indian cricketers are there among those 98 players? Vijay Shankar will be the only Indian cricketer who will be seen playing in the sixth season of Lanka Premier League.
