During the hearing in Shraddha Walker murder case, Saket court reprimanded the lawyer of accused Aftab. Expressing displeasure over the delay in cross-examination of the witness, the court directed to complete it as soon as possible and also warned.
New Delhi [भारत]July 29 (ANI): The Saket court took a serious stance while recording the prosecution’s evidence in the Shraddha Walker murder case on Thursday. The court asked the defense counsel of accused Aftab Amin Poonawala to complete the cross-examination of prosecution witness, Head Constable (HC) Deepak by July 30, and also said that adequate opportunities have already been given for the same.
Court warns defense lawyer
Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Hargurvarinder Singh Jaggi warned the defense counsel and said that if he failed to finish the cross-examination, the law would take its course. “The defense counsel is informed that adequate opportunities have already been given to cross-examine the witness. If he fails to complete the cross-examination of the prosecution witness by tomorrow, the law will take its course,” ASJ Jaggi ordered on July 29.
Head Constable Deepak was recalled for further cross-examination after 28.07.2026. He was further cross-examined, and the rest of his cross-examination was postponed until 4 pm.
The accused’s defense counsel, Advocate Akshay Bhandari, argued at the bar that he will complete the cross-examination of HC Deepak tomorrow.
Summons issued to investigating officer and others also
“Fresh summons be issued to the investigating officer, Inspector Ram Singh, SI Ankit Sharma, HC Deepak and HC Siddharth MHC (M) PS Mehrauli along with the case property for 30.07.2026 at 02:00 pm,” ASJ Jaggi ordered.
The court is recording the prosecution’s evidence on a day-to-day basis. Aftab Amin Poonawala is facing trial for allegedly murdering Shraddha Walker. Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Madhukar Pandey appeared for Delhi Police. (ANI)
