People attributed this sudden rise in inflation to the disruptions in global energy markets due to the US-Iran conflict and the tension over the Strait of Hormuz (which is an important route for the transportation of oil).
Petrol and diesel prices sky high
According to people, petrol prices in Pakistan had reportedly increased from about Rs 250 per liter to Rs 450 per liter, although later they softened a bit and remain slightly above Rs 400 per liter. A similar increase has been seen in the prices of diesel, which is putting more pressure on the prices of transport and essential commodities. People say that due to increase in fuel prices, public transport fares, prices of food items and other essential items also become expensive. Demand to end hostilities immediately
Many have argued that military action and missile attacks undermine diplomatic efforts and further increase instability in the region. People also blamed geopolitical rivalries and allegations of external interference in the peace process for the continued deadlock. Demanding an immediate end to hostilities, the people of Islamabad appealed to all parties to give priority to dialogue. He stressed that peace is essential to stabilize fuel prices, control inflation and save millions of Pakistanis from further hardship.
