Toys made in India dominate the world
Till a few years ago, our markets were filled with only foreign and Chinese toys. The plastic is such that it breaks in two days and is not at all safe even for children. But now the story has completely changed. In the last seven years, India has done such wonders in the matter of toys that now we have become a country that does not buy toys from the world, but sells its toys to them.
The new figures revealed by the government in the Lok Sabha are really surprising. In comparison to 2018-19, there has been a huge jump of 89.1% in the export of toys from India to other countries during 2025-26. At the same time, there has been a decline of about 37.5% in importing toys from abroad. Today the situation is such that even rich and big countries like America, Britain and Germany are buying ‘Made in India’ toys.
The game of fake toys is over
Many of the foreign toys that came around 2018-19 were complete junk. In a checking conducted in 2019, it was found that only 33% of the toys sold in the market were of good quality. After this the government showed strictness and tightened the rules. The direct effect of this was that today 95% of the toys available in the country are of top quality. Now you can buy safe toys for your children without any fear.

Recently in July 2026, a huge toy fair (Toy Biz International) was organized in Bharat Mandapam, Delhi. In this, more than 400 companies from India exhibited their toys. The best thing was that people from more than 40 countries came here to see our toys and buy them in bulk. This has provided an excellent way for the country’s businessmen to reach markets around the world.
How was all this possible?
This success has not been achieved overnight. The government increased the tax (custom duty) on foreign toys so much that their arrival in India automatically reduced. Along with this, a lot of financial assistance was given to new and old companies manufacturing toys in the country. In the new education policy of children, emphasis is now being laid on teaching through indigenous toys. All these steps of the government together have made India the new boss of the world of toys.
