India’s two top-ranked young women golfers, Seerat Kang and Guntas Kaur Sandhu, will represent the country at the Malaysia Ladies Amateur Open. Indian Golf Union (IGU) has sent both these players for this prestigious tournament.
New Delhi [भारत]July 28 (ANI): Indian Golf Union (IGU), the National Sports Federation (NSF) recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), is sending a two-member team of young golfers Seerat Kang and Guntas Kaur Sandhu to compete at the prestigious Malaysia Ladies Amateur Open to be held in Selangor, Malaysia from July 28 to 30.
According to a press release, Seerat Kang of Panchkula is currently ranked No. 1 in the IGU Ladies Order of Merit, while Guntas Kaur Sandhu of Chandigarh is ranked second.
40th Malaysia Ladies Amateur Open
The tournament, which is in its 40th edition, was held at Glenmarie Golf & Country Club, which has a course rating of 72.1 and a slope rating of 122. Nearly 40 amateur golfers from 20 countries will compete in the three-round event, with individual winners decided after 54 holes, while the champion team will be decided after 36 holes based on the combined scores of both golfers.

Seerat Kang: IGU’s number 1 player
The 19-year-old Seerat has had a consistently good 2025-26 season, finishing in the top-10 12 times out of 20, including a win at the Greens to Glory Junior Masters Championship last year.
Talking about her preparations, Seerat said, “I am currently ranked No. 1 in the IGU merit list, and I am very excited to represent India at the Malaysia Ladies Golf Championship. It is always an honor to represent my country, and hopefully I can make India proud.”
Guntas Sandhu: IGU’s number 2 player
Guntas, on the other hand, has finished in the top-10 13 out of 20 times on the IGU Amateur Circuit, including four wins. The 15-year-old won the IGU Eastern India Ladies, IGU Southern India Ladies, IGU Maharashtra Ladies and IGU West Bengal Ladies titles in the 2025-26 season.
Guntas said, “I am really excited to play in the 40th Malaysia Ladies Amateur Open. My preparation has been going very well, I have tried to focus on every aspect of my game. My hope is to give my best in every round, enjoy this experience and make the most of this opportunity. I am very grateful to IGU for giving me this opportunity. I am really looking forward to representing India.”
