Earlier, he had also won gold medals for India in the 2018 Gold Coast and 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. This time too he maintained his dominance on the weightlifting platform.

This performance of Mirabai Chanu was not only special in terms of medals, but she also registered excellent records in her name. He lifted 85 kg in the snatch round, which is a new Games and Commonwealth record. After this, he confirmed the gold medal by lifting 105 kg in clean and jerk. That means Mirabai Chanu lifted a total of 190 kg. Let us tell you, he had a bad start in the snatch round when his first attempt of 82kg could not be successful. However, in the second attempt he controlled himself by lifting 82 kg and then in his last attempt he set a new Commonwealth Games record and championship record by lifting a spectacular weight of 85 kg.
