Has the time come to drop Abhishek Sharma from Team India or from the playing-11? Should he also be dropped from the team in the same way as Sanju Samson was dropped? This question is arising because Abhishek’s bat is completely silent at the moment. At present, scoring runs for Team India’s star opener has become as difficult as climbing a mountain. He failed in all three matches of the T20 series against Zimbabwe and could score only 11 runs.

In this series held in Harare, Team India performed strongly and won the first two matches and won the series. In this series, while 15 year old young opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi has scored a lot of runs with his bat, this series has proved to be like a nightmare for his opening partner Abhishek Sharma. Abhishek, who scored only 1 run in 8 balls in the first match and 8 runs in the second, failed in the third innings as well.

Even in the last match of the series on Sunday 26th July, Team India batted first and once again Suryavanshi started scoring boundaries as soon as she came to the crease. But Abhishek could not leave any impact again. Like the last match, this time too Abhishek returned to the pavilion in the second over itself. In an attempt to play a big shot, Abhishek used his steps to create space for himself but was dodged by the line and speed of the ball. His bat hit the edge and was caught by the wicketkeeper.

This time Abhishek Sharma could score only 2 runs in 4 balls. In this way, this series proved to be very bad for him, where he scored only 11 runs in 20 balls. In such a situation, will he be dropped from the team for the next series? This question is arising because not only these 3 matches but also he had failed in 3 consecutive innings during the England tour. Overall, he has been able to score only 40 runs in 6 consecutive innings. Let us remind you that after failing in 3 consecutive innings on the Ireland-England tour, Sanju Samson was dropped and was not selected for this series.

The most surprising thing about Abhishek’s condition is that he was dismissed by the same bowler in all three matches. This bowler is tall pacer Blessing Muzarabani. This star fast bowler from Zimbabwe was considered the biggest threat even before the series and he proved it especially against Abhishek. In this series, Abhishek faced 14 balls from Muzarabani and scored only 2 runs, while losing the wicket all three times. Overall, in T20 International, Muzarabani has made Abhishek his victim for the fifth time, while the Indian batsman could score only 17 runs in 29 balls against him.
