glasgow [स्कॉटलैंड]July 25 (ANI): Indian boxer Sachin Siwach defeated Canada’s Keyoma Al-Ahmadia by a 4-1 split decision to enter the round of 16 in the men’s 60kg category at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland on Sunday.

How was the round-by-round match?

Sachin started the match positively and took the lead in the first round with aggressive attacks. According to ESPN, although Kioma also landed a few punches, the Indian boxer did enough to win the round 3-2 on the judges’ scorecards.

Both the boxers increased their intensity in the second round. Kioma cornered Sachin for some time and delivered several jabs, but the Indian boxer retaliated strongly and ended the round with a flurry of punches. His final strike proved decisive as he earned a unanimous decision from all five judges in the second round, putting him in a strong position.

In need of a strong finish, the Canadian boxer came back strongly in the final round and landed enough shots to win it by a margin of 3-2 on the scorecards. However, Sachin maintained his composure and had already gained enough lead to win the bout.

Overall, four out of five judges ruled in favor of the Indian boxer and the score of the bout stood at 29-28, 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28, while one judge gave the decision 29-28 to Kioma, giving Sachin a 4-1 split decision win.

Clash with English boxer in next round

With this win, Sachin has advanced to the round of 16, where he will face England’s William Hewitt on Monday for a place in the quarter-finals.

Sachin is the second Indian boxer to enter the ring in these Commonwealth Games. Before him, Jadumani Singh Mandengbam had registered an easy victory in the men’s 55 kg round of 32 match on Friday. (ANI)
