Chaturmas 2026: Today the fast of Devshayani Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Ashadh month is being observed. With this, Lord Vishnu has gone into Yoga Nidra and the four month Chaturmas has begun. This time is considered to be the sleeping time of Lord Vishnu and the gods. At this time Lord Vishnu rests in the underworld of demon king Bali. Now Lord Kartik will wake up on 20th November on the day of Devuthani Ekadashi of Shukla and Chaturmas will end on this day. Since Devshayani Ekadashi i.e. Chaturmas has started from today, all other auspicious works have also been banned for four months.

During the resting time of Lord Vishnu, all auspicious works including marriage are stopped for four months, because it is believed that auspicious works done at this time do not yield auspicious results. However, in the Chaturmas starting from Devshayani Ekadashi, there is no restriction in worship, chanting, penance and meditation, rather the results of worship during this time are manifold. This is the reason that even after getting absorbed in Yoga Nidra on Devshayani Ekadashi, there is no effect in worshiping God and fasting, but since Chaturmas has started from today, let us know which auspicious works should be avoided in the next four months?
