Two workers were electrocuted while on duty at Venus Denim Company in Miroli village of Daskroi, allegedly due to gross negligence by the company management and contractor.

The incident took place on July 2, when 56-year-old Mansharam Singh and 23-year-old Jitendra Baghel-both originally from Madhya Pradesh-were engaged in painting work on the factory premises.

According to police reports, they were attempting to shift an iron ladder from one location to another when it came into contact with a high-voltage three-phase agricultural power line that ran through the compound. They received fatal electric shocks and died on the spot.

Aslali police initially registered a case of accidental death. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination, which confirmed death due to electrocution.

Subsequent investigation indicated that the incident could have been prevented had proper safety equipment and precautions been in place. The police have now registered a case of criminal negligence against several individuals associated with Venus Denim Company.
