New Delhi [भारत]July 24 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of bringing a law to set up fast-track courts for paper leak cases. He alleged that this “hollow” assurance is contradicted by the developments in the NEET 2024 paper leak case itself.
In a post on Twitter, Kejriwal said, “Last night at 12:00 PM the Prime Minister released a video and told the entire nation that a law will be brought in Parliament on Monday to create fast-track courts for paper leak cases. How hollow and how false this assurance of the Prime Minister is, was proved yesterday itself.”
‘What will the court do if the mastermind gets bail?’
Referring to the 2024 NEET paper leak case, Kejriwal claimed that Sanjeev Mukhiya, whom he had earlier described as the mastermind, has got bail and further alleged that the CBI has told a court that no evidence has been found against him. “So if according to CBI Sanjeev Mukhiya is not the mastermind, then who is the mastermind? CBI did not reveal the name of the mastermind. This means that in the 2024 paper leak, no one leaked that paper. Will you create a fast-track court like this?” He asked question.
The former Delhi CM further questioned the effectiveness of the proposed fast-track court if, according to him, evidence is not produced against the accused. “Why do you want to save the paper leak mafia? Why are you giving such false and hollow assurances to the country? The youth of the entire country is suffering,” Kejriwal said in the post.
The AAP leader also alleged that no steps were taken to prevent future paper leaks and questioned the government’s intentions in dealing with the issue. “If you have to release the mastermind of the paper leak mafia, if you do not collect evidence, if you do not investigate, if you have to grant him bail, if you have to release him from jail, what will these fast-track courts do? Prime Minister, your intentions are flawed,” he said.
PM Modi had promised strict action
The statement comes after PM Modi promised to take “even stricter” action against paper leaks amid the CJP-led protests over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2026 exam. In a self-recorded video shared on Twitter, the Prime Minister announced that the Union Cabinet will consider a draft bill that will provide for fast-track courts and harsher punishment for criminals. “I have instructed departments to set up fast-track courts,” he said.
Along with the video, the Prime Minister wrote, “There will be even stricter action against paper leaks in tomorrow’s cabinet!” In the video, PM Modi said, “Friends, I know that paper leak is not a normal matter. It is extremely painful for lakhs of students and their parents. And that is why, several major steps have been taken in the last two and a half months after the paper leak incidents. The culprits have been caught; they are currently in jail.”
The opposition is demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and a detailed discussion on the NEET paper leak issue in the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament, a controversy that has sparked protests inside and outside the House. (ANI)
