More than 20 migrant laborers were injured when a gas cylinder exploded in a PG in Anekal, Karnataka. The accident happened in Bommasandra area. Most of the injured are residents of West Bengal and Bihar. Police have registered a case and started investigation.
More than 20 people were seriously injured when a gas cylinder exploded at a paying guest (PG) residence in Bommasandra in Anekal taluk in the early hours of Thursday, police said.
According to Anekal police, the incident took place around 6:00 am in a PG owned by Nagaraj Reddy in Bommasandra, which was leased to others.
There were no security arrangements in PG.
According to the police, more than 20 migrant laborers from other states were staying in the PG. Most of them were laborers from North India. Eight people were accommodated in each room and it is alleged that there were no security arrangements in the entire building.
It is being told that all the injured are residents of West Bengal and Bihar. After the blast, the seriously injured were admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Police said that the injured have been identified as Saurav Chaudhary, Alauddin, Shantanurai, Ahibul Rahman, Subrata Behera and Debashish Halder.
Police registered a case and started investigation
Fire and emergency services personnel reached the spot and brought the fire under control. A case has been registered at Hebbagodi police station and further investigation is underway.
Police said they are investigating whether the PG was running without proper permissions and safety norms. Further details are awaited. (ANI)
