Indian Railways has taken a big step to make ticket booking more transparent and safe. The Railway Ministry said on Monday that only those people will be able to book tickets for 15 minutes before the ticket booking starts from 1 October 2025, whose IRCTC account will be linked to Aadhaar. Meaning, if your account is not linked to Aadhaar, then you will not be able to take tickets in the first 15 minutes.

According to the Railways, it has been often seen that as soon as ticket booking starts, a lot of ticket agents and some wrong users block the seats, due to which the common passengers do not get tickets. Aadhaar authentication has been made necessary to stop this problem and give true passengers first. Railway officers say that this will increase transparency in the booking system and will benefit the right passengers. The 10 -minute restriction already implemented for agents will continue further.
