12 more houses were damaged and three people were injured due to overnight rain in Boh valley of Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. Officials gave this information on Wednesday. With this the total number of damaged houses in the valley has increased to 18.
Six houses were washed away in the torrential rains on Tuesday. The Meteorological Department has warned of low to moderate flash flood in parts of Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur and Kullu districts during the next 24 hours.
In fact, on Tuesday, there was sudden flood due to cloud burst in Sapedi and Garun villages of the valley and huge amount of debris was washed away. Lam village is also under threat. Many routes leading to these villages have been affected. Officials said that 13 pucca and five kutcha houses have been damaged by the rain and three people have been injured. Apart from this, nine cow sheds have also been damaged. Three buffaloes, four cows, one bull and one sheep died in this disaster.
Possibility of heavy rain at some places in Kangra and Mandi districts
According to reports, local people heard a loud bang like sound from the hills, after which a few moments later water, mud and large stones came rushing down. Shimla Meteorological Center has issued an ‘Orange’ alert for Wednesday in view of the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at some places in Kangra and Mandi districts. At the same time, ‘Yellow’ alert has been issued in view of the possibility of heavy rain in some parts of Chamba, Kullu, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur districts.
Sudden low to moderate flood in these areas
The weather center has warned that low to moderate flash floods may occur in some catchment areas and adjoining areas of Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur and Kullu districts during the next 24 hours. The weather center said that the rainy season is likely to continue till July 27.
Many roads closed due to torrential rains
Officials said that landslides have also occurred in Dibba and Maned Nala areas, making it difficult for rescue teams and administrative officials to reach the disaster affected areas. Due to torrential rains for the last few days, many roads in the state have been blocked. The administration has advised people to stay at home and avoid unnecessary travel.
