Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Kamlesh Kumar Pant reviewed the monsoon situation by holding a virtual meeting with all the Deputy Commissioners. In view of the heavy rains and disasters, he directed the district administrations to remain on high alert and take all necessary steps.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Kamlesh Kumar Pant chaired a virtual high-level review meeting with all the Deputy Commissioners on Wednesday. It assessed the current monsoon situation in the state and directed district administrations to remain on the highest level of alert in view of heavy rains and related disasters.

In this meeting, the overall scenario of monsoon in entire Himachal Pradesh was reviewed. It took stock of rain-related incidents, relief and restoration measures, road connectivity, electricity and drinking water supply and preparedness of district administrations.

The Deputy Commissioners briefed the Chief Secretary about the situation in their respective districts and the steps being taken to mitigate the impact of monsoon-related disasters.

Chief Secretary gave important instructions

Pant directed all Deputy Commissioners to maintain a high level of preparedness and ensure prompt response to emergencies arising from heavy rains, flash floods, landslides, cloud bursts and other monsoon related incidents.

He asked the district administrations to keep a close watch on sensitive places and maintain seamless coordination with the state government and all concerned departments.

The Chief Secretary also directed officials to ensure immediate restoration of disrupted essential services, including roads, power supply, drinking water schemes and communication networks.

He stressed the need for timely dissemination of weather forecasts and public advisories to increase public awareness and reduce risk to life and property.

Government’s commitment

Reiterating the government’s commitment towards disaster management, Pant said that the state government is fully committed to ensuring public safety and mitigating the impact of monsoon-related disasters through coordinated efforts of all departments and district administrations.

He said that every possible effort should be made to minimize the loss of life, property, public property and essential infrastructure during the current monsoon season. (ANI)
